Dashcam Viewer v3.6.4 was released today for both Mac and Windows with the following new improvements:
- Users can now choose the size of the PiP video frame when exporting video clips. Screen capture from video exports below:
Example of varying the PiP Sizes in a clip export.
From top-left, clockwise: 5%, 15%, 35%, and 50%.
- Improved speed of GPS Data Cache system by caching additional video metadata. The GPS Data Cache system was first implemented in v3.6.3.
- Improved compatibility with 70mai Dash Cam Pro videos in which the GPS unit did not achieve a fix at the beginning of the video, but did achieve a fix somewhere in the middle of the video.
Dashcam Viewer and Dashcam Viewer PRO are PC/Mac applications that allow you to play your dashcam’s videos while simultaneously viewing your vehicle’s location on a map. There are many other features in the software which are detailed on our website (http://dashcamviewer.com). The free version is fully-functional and allows the loading of up to 2 videos at a time.
I just got a new StreetGuardian (I already have 2 this is a third). I’ve been using a viewer which is no longer recommended (although it works). I downloaded current DCV onto my Windows7pro and it says to get a k-lite codec. Then it sends me to an alternative website that seems to want to load some browser extension. Moreover, at k-lite, it seems there are several versions. Note: I have no intention of loading Windows 10. I must continue to use my Windows7 laptop, or my Linux laptop (and you don’t make a linux version). SO please tell me *exactly* where to download the correct k-lite codec and to install it on my otherwise up to date Win7 laptop. I am ready to purchase your licensed DCV just so you know.
Hi MP, external codecs are required because Microsoft Windows doesn’t ship with any useful DirectShow codecs. On our website home page there is a direct link to the version of K-Lite Codec Pack installer that I use. Here is that link. You can also go to the K-Lite website itself and download/install the latest Basic K-Lite Installer if you want, but as you have found their website has a lot of ads you have to navigate around. Are suggested minimum requested OS is Win10, but Dashcam Viewer may still work with earlier Windows too. – John
Downloaded that .exe, installed, [rebooted], and it works fine so far on my Win7. Purchasing registration. Thanks.
I have Viofo A129 Pro Duo (FW 2.1 and aspect ratio set to 21×9 for front camera), using Windows version of Dashcam viewer. When I try to merge files it runs in about 2 seconds and all I get is the .gpx file, no .mov file is created. No error of any kind, just the pop-up saying Merge Complete! merged_dascam_vieos.mov created. Reveal in Explorer.
I have tried with or without audio and tried different number of files to merge all with the same result, runs in about 2 seconds and doesn’t create the .mov file.
On my Windows 10 64 Bit the Windowds Defender found a virus-signature in the setup.exe for the release 3.6.4. So I’m not going to install this version of Dashcam Viewer
Probably a false-positive because Dashcam Viewer is not a signed application.
I have updated to 3.6.4 and I still do not have any GPS fix on my video files from my 70mai Dash Cam A800, so no additional info or map info. Video playback is fine.
